A few more gigs

April 13th, 2008

Aggro is coming at you! At least, if you live near Nijmegen or Soest. A few new gigs have been planned, with Sand Creek Massacre, Traktor and The Embodiment. See the Gigs section for more info.

Furthermore we’d like to thank JC Plaza Ermelo and Wings of Death bookings for a well organized gig last weekend (can you tell we’re surprised?). Also thanks to Context for letting us use their bass amp. Great evening!

Last minute gig: Band Knockout, Deventer

February 19th, 2008

We got an email from the Walhalla Organization in Deventer, asking us if we could fill in for another band in a band contest. So, sure. That means we’re going to play at the Band Knockout contest at the 23rd of february, at the Walhalla venue, Deventer. More info is available in the Gigs section

So see you there, Aggroheads!

Back from the dead

January 25th, 2008

Some of you might have been wondering where those annoying four guys with their agitating music went for the last year or so.  Personal reasons were the underlying cause of this temporary “freeze” of Aggro. Let’s call it a much needed sabbatical. For the last few months however, Aggro has been rehearsing like mad. Yes, that means we’re back.

Our first upcoming gig will be at the Grote Prijs van Twente prerounds on  28-02-2008 at De Stam, Almelo.  See you there!

Thanks!

June 11th, 2006

We’d like to thank everyone who came to see us live, and particularly the people who showed up at our show in Hedon, Zwolle, It was a great night!

Right now we’re going to take a little break from doing live gigs, to be able to concentrate on writing new songs. We’ve been playing live a lot lately, and we’ve learned a lot of things that we will use to evaluate and improve ourselves. Until the 1st of september, we won’t be doing a lot of live gigs. After this period of time, rest assured that you will see a much improved and even tighter playing Aggro hitting the stage!

Thanks again, and ’till soon!

Oogst van Overijssel update

May 29th, 2006

We played at the semi finals of the “Oogst van Overijssel” contest last saturday. Unfortunately, we don’t get to play in the finals. Despite the fact that we haven’t seen any of the other bands play (we had to be there at 6PM and play at 11:30PM, so we decided to go watch football and drink coffee elsewhere in the meantime), we want to congratulate Moonflower and Alpenkruezers for ending up 1st and 2nd respectively. Clemens, our drummer, was selected to be “best drummer of the night”. The jury said his drumming sounded “driven, energetic and progressive”. That was a cool compliment. Although we won’t play at the finals at Hedon Zwolle next friday, we WILL play at Hedon Zwolle next saturday! We’re going to wreck the stage together with My Own Mess and Taste of Insanity at the Zwolse Aanval, so be there!

Aggro won first round “Oogst van Overijssel”

May 14th, 2006

Tonight (13th of may, it’s past midnight at the time of this writing), we won the first round of the “Oogst van Overijssel” contest, at ‘t Ukien, Kampen. The jury reported that they thought we played a tight set, and put down an energetic live show. Aggro will be playing in the semi finals on saturday, the 27th of May, at the Atak, Enschede.

Update: This is what they wrote about us at 3voor12lokaal.vpro.nl

This band is screaming for attention, and that’s what they get. A lowly tuned guitar and bass, a fast drummer and a completely insane singer who looks like he just ran a marathon. These are the ingredients for this heavy, supertight metalband from Vriezenveen. For the metalfans among us: take the melodic side of Death and the metal-meets-math from Meshuggah, and you get something that sounds like Aggro.

A quick update

March 25th, 2006

It’s been a while since we’ve provided you with some news regarding Aggro. That doesn’t mean we didn’t do anything! As you can see, our website got a graphical overhaul, to synchronize with our demo cover. Once again, we’d like to thank Pieter Dorst for making that happen again! As I’m writing this, I just got home from an unexpected gig at Ojeesee Hardenberg. I got a call at 7PM, some band cancelled their gig and we were given the chance to play, so after a 1,5 hour drive, a couple of RedBulls and some stress, we did our thing once again. A few weeks ago we ended up 2nd in the “Grote Prijs van Twente” contest. Not too bad, we were probably by far the least accessible band in the whole contest. It was probably impossible for us to end up as 1st, because they’d have to let us play at a somewhat well known commercial festival, and people might get scared when they’d see and hear us. So, this 2nd place is really a 1st place for us. Thanks to all the people who were there to support us, we really appreciated it. Despite a good performance (according to us, and according to a lot of people we talked with), we didn’t win the Metal Battle in Enschede. We don’t really understand why. But then, I suppose we don’t really understand musical contests, either. Sometimes it seems like a cheap way for venues to make easy cash without having to pay the bands who perform there. The jury told us we scored highest in the “musicianship category”. Kinda funny. Maybe if we played with subtitles in the background, the jury might have understood our compositions actually make sense, too. Ah well. It didn’t really bother us, it was just kind of a strange experience. Our demo has been received quite well in general, and we’d like to thank everyone for their appreciative, kind and constructive comments. We’ll keep giving away copies for free at our live gigs, and it will remain entirely free for download. Keep an eye on our Live section to experience the Aggro madness at a town nearby. Hope to see you soon!

February 12th, 2006

The Aggro demo has finished! We’ve called it “Songs for the World”, and all the complete songs are available for download in the MP3 section. A huge thank you goes out to Frank Klein Douwel for producing this thing! We’ll give away free copies at our upcoming gigs. Enjoy.
